PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Masters Certificate on Project Management was created in order to provide a fast-track, in-depth approach to the delivery of project management training that was Canadian in its roots as well as in its location and very importantly, that recognized the shortage of time with which most project managers are faced.

The Certificate awarded is considered by most on the profession of project management as one step before the PMP Certification process.  It has been awarded by The Schulich School of Business to over 2000 graduates since 1997 and in partnership with other universities across North America.

Aside from the Certificate, graduates can expect two major deliverables upon completion of the program:

  1. They will have gained knowledge, tools, templates and new skills enabling them to significantly ‘raise the bar’ as professional project managers and
  2. They will be fully prepared to write the PMI exam immediately following the program.

This is a 9 course, 18 day program developed around the Project Management Institute's Body of Knowledge:

  • Project Management Overview and PMBOK review – 1 day
  • Project Planning and Control  - 3 days
  • Cost Management – 2 days
  • Contracting & Procurement – 2 days
  • Quality Management – 2 days
  • Communications – 2 days
  • Leadership – 1 day
  • Risk Management – 2 days
  • Project Simulation – 3 days

Each course covers the fundamentals of the project management – the foundation knowledge areas required by all project managers.  They are not industry specific and in fact the exercises come from many different industries.

The program is delivered by a series of professional project management trainers. These people are independent trainers who have experience not only as facilitators but as project managers as well.  Most are certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the PMI.

Typically, we run the program for the public on alternating Fridays and Saturdays. In some cases we offer a weekday program and others we alternate Friday/Saturday and Sunday/Monday.
